Threads of Pride and Protest
Pride Quilts by the Portland Modern Quilt Guild
Art At The Cave Gallery | June 4th – 27th, 2026
Threads of Pride and Protest is a burst of color and joy in the grey—an exhibition of quilts that celebrate Pride through the language of the rainbow. From small mini quilts to large storytelling pieces, this show brings together work that radiates color, texture, and meaning—each one part of a larger woven spectrum of celebration, identity, memory, and community stitched into visible form.
While rooted in joy and vibrancy, these works also carry the deeper history of Pride: resistance, visibility, and the ongoing movement toward equity and belonging. Together, they reflect the many ways Pride is lived and expressed—through exuberant color, quiet reflection, personal narrative, and shared experience. In every piece, the rainbow becomes more than symbol—it becomes material, gesture, and act—a way of making joy visible, showing up, and being seen.
