PMQG Gives Back

PMQG members continually share their skills and love of quilting through charity sewing.

who we donate to:

CAMP ERIN

Camp Erin, a camp for grieving children. When the campers arrive, they are greeted with a teddy bear and a quilt on their bunks. Quilts for camp Erin should be twin sized (minimum 39"x 76") and be child appropriate in theme and fabric. Campers are aged 6-17 and the camp often has a special need for quilts that may appeal to boys, especially teen boys.  Join a PMQG Charity Day, or bring finished quilts (quilted or not) to any meeting or PMQG event to help with this charity.

More information about quilts for Camp Erin can be found here.

Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Doernbecher Children's Hospital

The PICU unit would like to receive quilts from 36" x 36" to twin sized. Boy-friendly quilts are always in high demand.

From their website: "We provide care to critically ill or injured pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood. The PICU team cares for children across a vast spectrum of health issues including trauma, surgery, respiratory, cardiac, hematology/oncology and neurologic disorders."

Hospice Quilts

Kaiser Permanente has requested the donation of lap or twin sized quilts for hospice patients. Please contact the Kaiser Hospice Volunteer Program at HospiceVolunteerNW@kp.org to arrange your donation.

People with dementia often find comfort in having something for their hands to do, especially those that are staying in an unfamiliar hospital or care home. Fidget quilts can help those with dementia feel calm while also keeping them occupied. Since these interactive textiles are meant to stimulate memory, it is important that fidget quilts trigger the senses by using different textures and embellishments as much as possible. They also provide a nice opportunity for you to try your hand at different sewing techniques.
