In-person Workshop with Blair Stocker: The Starflake Quilt
We will divide your stash into three values and learn the design elements of complex color value relationships as we make the Starflake Quilt. Built using only green fabric scraps until Blair got tired of them and switched to pink, it is her most popular pattern and was exhibited at QuiltCon 2019. We will cover concepts like using the same fabric for different values, how to set design parameters that inspire you, and making consistent design decisions in a complex design like this. Suitable for intermediate quilters.
Note: This workshop requires the purchase of the Starflake quilt pattern per student.

November In Person Workshop: Free Motion Beginnings with Christina Cameli

Let Christina introduce you to beginner-friendly designs while answering all the questions you have about free-motion quilting. Students will get lots of stitching time with Christina's guidance and encouragement, and walk away with a clear understanding of how to quilt their projects on a domestic machine.

In-person Workshop with Taylor Krz: ColorCraft: Discovering Inspiration and Crafting Your Palette
Saturday, September 19, Time, Location and Cost TBD
Ready to take your quilts to the next level with gorgeous, intentional color choices? This workshop is all about discovering, designing, and playing with color to bring your creative vision to life. We’ll start by digging into where to find inspiration (hello, Pinterest!), learning how to use keywords to uncover the colors and themes you’re naturally drawn to. Then, we’ll explore the basics of color theory in a way that’s simple and fun, using tools like Coolors.co to create your very own color palettes.
Once you’ve got the hang of colors, we’ll dive into how to use them in your quilting projects. You’ll learn how value and contrast can make or break a design and use digital tools like QuiltInk.com and Quilty Solid to test out your ideas before cutting into fabric. By the end of the day, you’ll have an inspiration board full of ideas, custom palettes you love, and quilt mock-ups ready to go. It’s going to be a fun, hands-on class that’ll leave you excited to tackle your next quilt with confidence!

Printing & Discharging Color Workshop Using Household Items with Marci Mcfarlane
Do you have fabric that looks blah? Learn to change what you have with common household items. We will discharge color from fabric and add a lovely pattern or design to the fabric by bleaching out the color. Learn how to use common household items to change the look of the fabric by printing a pattern or design on fabric.
This class is a 4 hour experiment for you to try your hand at printing and discharging ink, something different than the regular printing process that a lot of us have seen or know how to do. We will use common items that you can find in your basement or kids room to print on fabric, making a pattern or just a central image. Bring your open mind and creative spirit and spend a few hours making something fun!
Materials:
Bring one yard of a dark color fabric, 100% cotton works best and one yard of a light color fabric to print on (this does not need to be 100% cotton).
We will provide:
Ink, several rollers for printing and several items to use for printing/discharging patterns on your fabric. We will also have a large bin of free fabric for you to use for tests.
