May Meeting Reminder

Please join us next Thursday, May 16th at 7pm, for our May meeting!

Where: St Andrew Catholic Church, 806 NE Alberta St., Portland, OR 97211

The meeting will be in the community center, which is behind the main church building. There are two parking lots.


To continue celebrating our 10 year anniversary, members can pick up a beautiful enamel pin at this month's meeting!


May Fat Quarter Lotto:
For this month's FQ lotto, please bring a Polka Dot fat quarter!  Everyone who enters a fat quarter will receive an entry into the drawing to win the entire pile (or split into 2 or 3 piles/winners if we have many entries!)

May Presentation:
This month we're excited to welcome Irena Swanson! Irena will share her unique quilting methods that save time and increase accuracy. Irena will also be teaching a Herringbone Quilt Workshop using her methods on Saturday, May 18th.

Upcoming Presentations:

  • June: A trunk show by Elizabeth Hartman!

  • July: Stash Bust for Charity! We will have another event like we did last year. Members will donate fabric and quilting tools which will be sold during the monthly meeting. Proceeds will go to charity. More information to come!

Fabric Challenges:

PMQG has 2 upcoming challenges for 2019: Paintbrush Studio Painter’s Palette Solids Challenge and Figo Fabrics Print Challenge. For each challenge, members will receive 9 or 10 fat quarters and will make a mini quilt to be shown at the PMQG October Showcase. Space is limited to 40 members per challenge and each person may only sign up for and receive 1 challenge or the other, not both.

Sign-ups for the Painter's Palette Solids Challenge go live tomorrow, Saturday 11th, at 10 am. For more information, and to sign up, visit our website.

  • Painter’s Palette Solids Fabric Challenge Sign-up: Saturday, May 11th at 10 am (see above!)

  • Need inspiration for next year’s Sisters Quilt Show Special Exhibit “Inspired by Bauhaus?”On Monday, May 20th at 7pm, the Portland Art Museum is showing a film celebrating 100 years of Bauhaus. Go here for tickets and more info.

  • Hand Sew Happy Hour--Sunday, May 26th, 2pm-4pm

    • East Side: Pix Patisserie, 2225 E Burnside St, Portland

    • West Side: Jim & Patty's Coffee People, 4130 SW 117th, Beaverton

  • Open Sew Day--Saturday, June 1st, 9:30 am-530 pm at Mill End Store, 4955 SW Western Ave., Beaverton (park around the side closest to Uwajimaya and knock on the keypad door if it's not propped open so you don't have to carry your supplies all through the store!)

Don't forget to bring:

  • Fat Quarter Lotto fabric (see above!)

  • Mugs for hot tea

  • Show and Tell Quilts, we want to see what you've made! (1 per person, please)

Cleanup After Meetings:
Thank you to everyone who helps set up for meeting, we really appreciate it! We are in need of more help after meetings though. If you’re physically able, please put away your own chair, and grab an extra one too if you can! Besides chairs we need assistance putting away tables, equipment, and the stage after meetings too.


Guests and non-members are welcome at guild meetings. Guests are free for the first visit; $5 for each visit after that.
