This is one of the posts written to celebrate PMQG's third anniversary. Many thanks to Katie Sciarinno for her logo work and for contributing this blog post!
A Logo Story
by Katie Sciarrino
At some point between May and June of 2010 I asked then President, Jen, if she thought we needed a logo. She said yes so I got busy working on a few design directions for the entire guild to vote on. For those of you who don't know, I'm a graphic designer so this was way up my ally.
We put three logos up for a vote:
#3 Won the majority. It was influenced by fabric selvages.
Slightly abstract and built in CMYK. It's bold and modern—just like us.
After the logo came name tag buttons. Look around at the next meeting, you're sure to see a few members wearing them.
And after the buttons came the banner. Several members contributed 6" blocks (of their own design) making it a solid representation of the guild. I pieced it together and appliquéd the logo, the amazing Nancy quilted it to perfection, and Cherri donated the b/w stripe backing and binding fabric. It was a hugely successful group project. I love seeing it at all our events.
Now you can wear a representation of the logo—check out the "swag" button to the right!
