About Elizabeth

Elizabeth Hartman is a quilter, pattern designer, and fan of color from Portland, Oregon.

She has been making things her whole life but, when she made her first quilt in 1999, she was hooked and has been making quilts ever since. For Elizabeth, quiltmaking is the perfect combination of creativity and technical challenge, all in the service of making a useful object.

Elizabeth is the author of several beginner-friendly books on modern quilting, including the award winning “The Practical Guide to Patchwork”, “Modern Patchwork”, and “Patchwork City”. She has been featured in several other books, publications and media.

Her classes on the BluePrint, Patchwork Piecing: Woodland Animals, Creative Quilt Backs, and Inspired Modern Quilts: 7 Small Projects With Big Style are some of the most popular classes amongst modern quilters.

Elizabeth has also created some of the most popular quilt patterns on the market, with the many adorable animals she has brought to life with patterns like, “Delightful Desert”, “Fancy Forest”, “Awesome Ocean”, and the list continues to grow.

Elizabeth will be joining us at our monthly meeting as a guest speaker, sharing a bit about her creative process and sharing what we love, lots of quilts!
