Charity Sew days are hosted by PMQG member Cath Hall at Modern Domestic (422 NE Alberta Street) from 10am to 4pm.

Just bring yourself! Everything needed for Charity Sew Days is generously supplied by Modern Domestic (mats, rotary cutters, irons, rulers, Bernina sewing machines, a Bernina long arm machine and even a Bernina table top quilting machine).  Whether you prefer cutting, ironing, piecing or quilting, there’s a job for everyone! You can stay all day or drop by for an hour or two.  Many hands means many charity quilts!

Draw, Trace, Stitch! Workshop with Rebecca Ringquist

Students of any drawing level are invited to join Rebecca Ringquist for this full-day workshop exploring drawing techniques for machine embroidery. We will warm up by sketching on paper using blind contour techniques, drawing from both life and memory.    After an hour or so of fast drawings on paper, we will move on to translating these techniques into drawing with needles and thread.  A variety of transfer techniques will be demonstrated and employed.  Emphasis will be on experimentation and fast sample making.  If you have been looking for a way to loosen up and add imagery and meaning to your quilts, this is your class!

You'll explore improv, slice & insert, curve in a curve, curved half square triangles, and patchwork. Once the blocks are sewn up, you’ll explore different ways to put the finished blocks together to create a design that’s uniquely yours!
